With more than 8 billion downloads, CrazyLabs is a leading publisher of casual and hybrid-casual games.

We have proven that real success comes from staying ahead with the latest technology, having fun with what we do, and building excellent teams. That’s where you come in!

We’re looking for an experienced Game Level Designer to join our Live Operations team and help evolve, expand, and optimize successful puzzle games played by established player communities.

This is a hands-on level design role focused on creating high-quality puzzle content at scale and continuously improving the player journey. You’ll combine strong puzzle design intuition with player data, playtests, and experimentation to optimize difficulty, pacing, progression, and long-term engagement across live games.

If you are:

  • An experienced Level Designer with a strong background in mobile puzzle games
  • Passionate about designing, playing, and deconstructing puzzle levels
  • Highly skilled in hands-on level creation, balancing, pacing, and difficulty tuning
  • Experienced in working with established games and large volumes of existing levels
  • Able to understand why a puzzle level is satisfying, frustrating, too easy, too difficult, or simply not fun
  • Excited by the combination of creativity, player psychology, and data
  • Comfortable analyzing where players fail, retry, use boosters, progress, or churn
  • Able to create fresh puzzle content for long-term players while maintaining consistency and quality at scale
  • Excited about using AI and new tools to accelerate level creation, balancing, and analysis

Then you might be a great match for CrazyLabs.

As a Game Level Designer – Live Operations, you will:

  • Design, build, and continuously optimize engaging puzzle levels, missions, challenges, and gameplay content for established mobile games.
  • Create new puzzle levels at scale while maintaining quality, variety, consistency, and alignment with the game’s core mechanics and design principles.
  • Own and continuously improve level progression, sequencing, pacing, and difficulty curves across different stages of the player journey.
  • Analyze level performance through KPIs such as completion rates, fail rates, retries, attempts, churn points, booster usage, and progression behavior, and translate insights into concrete level improvements.
  • Identify difficulty spikes, progression blockers, underperforming levels, and other friction points, and continuously rebalance existing content based on player data and playtests.
  • Design levels that create interesting interactions between mechanics, obstacles, goals, boosters, and board configurations while maintaining clarity and fairness for the player.
  • Define how new mechanics, obstacles, goals, and gameplay elements are introduced, taught, combined, and evolved throughout the level journey.
  • Experiment with new combinations of existing mechanics to create fresh puzzle experiences without unnecessary complexity.
  • Design puzzle levels, missions, and challenges for LiveOps events, limited-time content, and other engagement-driven experiences.
  • Balance challenge and accessibility across different player segments while maintaining a satisfying sense of mastery and progression.
  • Support A/B tests related to level difficulty, sequencing, progression, balancing, and puzzle content, and iterate based on their results.
  • Work closely with Product Owners and Data Analysts to identify friction points within the level funnel, define hypotheses, evaluate results, and improve progression and engagement KPIs.
  • Collaborate with Game Designers, developers, artists, and other disciplines to integrate new mechanics, boosters, obstacles, and features into the level experience.
  • Contribute ideas for new puzzle mechanics, obstacles, goals, boosters, and level-design opportunities based on player behavior and the needs of the existing game.
  • Create and maintain clear level-design documentation, including progression plans, difficulty frameworks, balancing sheets, level layouts, mechanic-introduction plans, and design guidelines.
  • Continuously play and analyze successful mobile puzzle games to identify level-design patterns, difficulty strategies, mechanics, progression structures, and emerging market trends.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate level ideation, content variation, balancing, testing, research, and performance analysis.

The Game Level Designer – Live Operations role requires:

  • Proven level-design experience in mobile F2P games, with strong hands-on experience in puzzle games.
  • Strong hands-on puzzle level-design experience, including level creation, implementation, balancing, pacing, difficulty tuning, and progression.
  • Experience designing and maintaining levels for a live mobile game with an established player base.
  • Strong understanding of puzzle level-design principles, including board design, goals, constraints, mechanic combinations, difficulty curves, pacing, player learning, and progression.
  • Proven ability to create high-quality puzzle levels at scale while maintaining variety, consistency, and an appropriate difficulty curve.
  • Strong understanding of how mechanics, obstacles, boosters, goals, and board configurations interact to influence level difficulty and player behavior.
  • Experience using level KPIs, analytics, spreadsheets, playtests, and player data to make data-driven level-design and balancing decisions.
  • Ability to identify difficulty spikes, progression blockers, and problematic levels and translate performance data into concrete design changes.
  • Experience continuously rebalancing existing content based on completion rates, fail rates, attempts, retries, churn, booster usage, and other relevant player behaviors.
  • Experience working with level editors, game engines, spreadsheets, or other content-creation and balancing tools.
  • Strong understanding of the F2P puzzle player journey and how level difficulty, progression, and content variety influence engagement and retention.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with creativity, attention to detail, and player empathy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong knowledge of the mobile puzzle market and current level-design trends.
  • Curiosity and willingness to experiment with AI tools and emerging technologies as part of the level-design workflow.

Advantage

  • Experience designing and maintaining hundreds or thousands of puzzle levels.
  • Experience owning or significantly contributing to difficulty curves and progression for a live puzzle game.
  • Experience optimizing puzzle levels using completion, failure, retry, churn, booster usage, and progression data.
  • Experience creating puzzle content for LiveOps events, limited-time challenges, or recurring events.
